Had a really nice weekend in Newcastle. Visited relatives in the jarrow area and had a terrific family gathering in a jarrow pub. Newcastle is a great happening city. Easy to get about on the metro or by cab. Barluga provided a really interesting place for a meal on the saturday night. Grey street hotel was a good location and a comfortable hotel.

Newcastle Weekend

Hotel was ok but room a little small. Couln't sleep much as the outer window was stuck open and hotel is yards from main street of pubs, clubs etc. Breakfast very average and particularly annoying was being asked for payment, telling the waitress we'd already paid at time of booking then having to go through to reception looking like a couple of fraudsters just to prove we had paid for breakfast in advance. Ok but would stay at a different hotel next time in newcastle.

I checked we had a quiet room and reception said yes you have the suite. What I really meant was it going to be away from the street noise, answer-most definately no! We couldn't hear any noise in the hotel as there was too much outside.Oh and don't be fooled into thinking that the clubbers have gone by 4 a.m. As then the street cleaning machines come out to play.
