out of 5The weather was perfect - crisp, clear sunny. The Arlecchino hotel is very near the bus station so very convenient. At night there is some noise but not really until the early hours. We were able to get a good nights sleep so that we could spend the days sight seeing. Struck by the beauty of the place and an almost ghostly feel at night. Views of the canals from the hotel which is set right next to one. Still a few visitors tramping the narrown alleyways and canal walks like us but not too many so as to spoil the enjoyment and no queueing for attractions. November is a good time to visit for this reason! The hotel staff were friendly enough. There is no communal room there except for the breakfast room but they let us hang out next door at the Olympia before our flight. We would recommend this hotel and city to visit. We had a lovely time.

out of 5The best and most economical way to travel around Venice is to purchase a 1 or 3 day pass for the public water taxi.We used it to take us to the Island of Murano and the seaside resort of Lido. It takes you up the Grand Canal and they are very frequent and stop at everywhere you would want to go.The public bus from the airport is very simple and easy to use and cost about 4 euros single and takes you into Venice with your lugguage. The most romantic and beautiful place to visit is St. Mark's Square at nightime when the buildings are all lit up and there are fewer people. If you do not like the crowds or heat go earlier in the season when it is more comfortable. We had four lovely sunny days in March with temperatures of 18.
