out of 5The vaporetto ticket is a must - 30 euros for 72 hours- enables you to get around Venice including the islands and more importantly, gives your feet a rest! Sharp elbows are needed for outside seats but by the 3rd day we were old hands.We just got the coach transfer from the airport- 3 euros just 20 minutes.A map is essential or you can just go round in circles. Queues for St. Marcs and the Doges Palace quickly develop so we did each on a different morning and got there for 9 o/c each of those days.Would not bother with the Lido again- but the Cemetary Island and Moreno were well worth the visit. Beer is quite expensive and few places seem to display drinks prices- wine seemed cheaper.Leave the kids at home, put some comfy shoes on and enjoy this vibrant city!After a perfect glass of draft Leffe we walked back to Waterloo for the return train- a great short break, again booked through Superbreak-thanks!

out of 5easy to see the main attractions and still go down an alley and stroll along quiet and beautiful waterways.1st time visitors need clear instruction of how easy the water-transport is especially from the airport which quite a few found confusing Venitians in all retail/cafe/bars super

out of 5Be prepared for crowds. Rialto Bridge and St. Marks Square in particular were very very busy and the queues were long for the Basilica. You need to be fairly fit as Venice has about 400 bridges but that is part of the attraction. For the best restaurants go down the side streets and look for where the Venetians eat. The food is superb, service excellent and staff so friendly.
