If you go to Amsterdam stay at the Swissotel because its very clean and they always make you feel welcome. I really enjoyed my stay. If you get a chance view the amsterdam museum that is hidden down an alley way where the rows of shops are behind the main road of damrak . Its only 7 euros to get in and you can go in and out as often as you want on the same day if you want a break from looking at all the items.

Weekend break to Amsterdam

A customerfrom Callingtonwho stayed at this hotel wrote this review.

Stay Date: 14/09/07

Overall Hotel Rating:

5 out of 5

The Swissotel Amsterdam was perfectly located on Dam Square with great staff and lovely rooms. Free upgrades are often available out of season. A canal cruise is a great way to familiarise yourself with the city and very relaxing. Anne Frank's house was a moving experience but a little too commercialised. Lots of bars & restaurants to choose from but I would definately recommend the Cafe de Jaren for either a coffee, light lunch or evening meal, fantastic. I would not suggest buying an I-Amsterdam card as you can walk everywhere easily and the discounts offered weren't all that good.

Visisted Kukenhof Park getting there by train to Schipol then bus, easy and direct. You need more time that the 1 hour allowed in the basic tour. Well worth visiting, quite spectacular colours of flowers especially the tulips. Restaurants also good value.Queens Day - got caught up in this Dutch extravaganza - just go with the flow and enjoy the rhythms of the day when thousands of Dutch celebrate their Queens birthdayThen enjoy a typical Dutch meal in the D Light Restaurant in Damstrak
