out of 5My self and my daughter spent two nights at our hotel, on arrival the reception staff informed us that they were upgrading us to a suite. We were taken to the suite, which was lovely, we had a double bedroom, sitting room, and two bathrooms. We used all of the spa facilities, we ordered room service, every member of staff we met were just so lovely. We enjoyed the stay at the hotel and spa, we would definitley stay there again. If i had to pick a negative point it would be the spa could do with a lick of paint. We would however recomend this place, great weekend all around.

out of 5From the first moment we saw the hotel we were captivated. The bell boy helped us in with our bags and the whole experience of checking in was exemplary. We were upgraded to a suite at no extra cost. The rooms were wonderful with antique furniture and paintings. We had the 6 course gourmet meal with matched wines on the saturday night and it was amazing. Service was first rate, the staff being friendly but not over attentive. On the sunday morning we took a walk through the extensive gardens and grounds. Whilst in the parkland we saw a fox! Overall we would highly recommend this hotel. Within walking distance of york city centre (30 - 40 minutes) and overlooking the knavesmire (york racecourse). Friendly and attentive staff, magnificent building and surroundings.

Overall Hotel Rating:
out of 5great hotel excellent welcome from staff on arrival. room very nice in a quiet courtyard. only negatives were during checkout member of staff at middlethorpe presented me with a total bill even though i had paid via superbreak back in february(i believe this has happened to previous guests who had booked via superbreak!!), and the drinks are far too expensive from the bar - i konw this is an exclusive hotel but £9 for a glass of wine and a bottle of beer is expensive. as for york you are spoilt for choice for shops in the day , the stunning yorkminster and the river and at night there are endless restaurants , bars and clubs too choose from i would highly recommend a weekend away to york
Short Trip to York

out of 5We stayed for 1 night at Middlethorpe Hall & Spa, which I would happily stay at again. The hotel staff were very helpful and friendly. The hotel itself is very comfortable and clean and the only thing it lacks is tea/coffee making facilities in the bedroom. We only did a very brief trip around the city itself and used the city bus tour for ease. At a cost of 7.50GBP it's quite good value, very informative and is hop on hop off. A visit to the Railway Museum is a must, especially as is it is free! At the moment they also have a big wheel that you can go on at a cost of 6GBP per person, which gives you a panoramic view of the city and surrounding area.Just on the outskirts of the city is a designer outlet mall; plenty of parking and the shops are all under cover.I would recommend using the park and ride systems that are on offer in various locatioons just outside the city. Driving and parking in city centres is often a nightmare, and expensive! On the whole, York has plenty to offer, regardless of age.
