out of 5Stayed in hotel for both for proximity to church but all also central location. Charming old worldy appeal makes it very inviting as was it's restaurant food which was cooked and served very well. The bar was relatively expensive and could have had more staff at peak times. The bedroom was rather cramped, bed comfortable, bathroom clean, and a had a modern lcd tv with an mp3 input for own music. The weather was hot when we stayed, with no air conditioning, even with window open, it made for an uncomfortable sleep... Old fashioned single glazed windows makes me wonder whether room could be quite cold in winter! overall bedroom was tired, below the normal mercure standard i have been used to, especially abroad, but nevertheless a nice hotel to stay in.

out of 5Lovely old hotel, with interesting history, in centre of town. Attractive hotel restaurant overlooking garden. Good parking on site. Excellent dinner in hotel. Room quality good. Lots to visit around banbury but new development has made road system a bit confusing.
