out of 5For a short break in Brussels, the Ibis Ste. Catherine is well-placed (10 mins walk to the Grand Place). Rooms are a bit small, and the bathrooms very small, but the buffet breakfast is quite extensive and good. Staff are efficient and friendly. Well placed for fish and oriental restaurants.Good bars, for those who like the old-fashioned approach, rather than bright lights and music, include Imaige de Nostre-Dame, Bon Veiux Temps, and Toone, all in alleys (don't be put off!) on Rue Marche aux Herbes. The Beaux-Arts Museum has a temporary exhibition area on the first-floor, as some galleries are being re-arranged; a good selection including Brueghel and Rubens. Well worth it, even if you aren't an regular art fan. Grand Place is ideal for a late evening wander, when the crowds have gone.

out of 5The Ibis hotel (although not the most central Ibis) was in a good location. We could walk to all the major sites in Brussels and we could easily get to the Metro and trams for our day trip to Gent

out of 5Our hotel was really well positioned, only five minutes walk from the Grand Place. We liked the area, loads of different types of restaurants and bars so something for everyone. There are loads of city tours to go on but we bought a guide and wandered by ourselves and found some really quaint places, including the area around the Grand Place, and the Louise stop on the metro which is where all the designer shops are. Lovely city overall, and would definitely go back.
