Great location (about 10 mins walk away from the centre of york), lovely decorated rooms with tea and coffee making facilities and rainforest shower, friendly and helpful staff (although it did take us asking three different reception staff before a problem in the bathroom was solved - underfloor heating and heated towel rail on full blast - in august!!). Apart from that would definitely recommend this hotel.

Me and my wife recently stayed at the Hotel Du Vin in York for her birthday expecting the best from the reviews on trip advisor. We got to our room at 1.30pm the minute the receptionist opened our room we were confronted by the most amazing heat it was like a sauna. We tried to get the airconditioning to work. We put the fan switch on and thought it must come on eventually. So we went to look around York and come back later, to our amazement we were met by the same heat. We asked to change rooms it was just unbearable, and made sure the next room had air con in. Thankfully it did, and we set out to have a romantic meal at the Delrios. Rated number two on trip advisor, god knows why, me and my wife have had better pub food than this slop thrown on a plate. After we finished having our romantic meal lol we headed back to the hotel. We got back to the room and the aircon was working nicely and were about to settle down for the night. Before I settled down for the night I needed a toilet break. I went and then when I flushed the toilet the handle fell off in my hand. I wasn't happy about this, and was going to have serious words with the management in the morning. The morning arrived and I spoke to the manager. He was very nice and apologetic. He said he would put us up in the best room in the hotel, and give us a free gift. This is no word of a lie it was a palace. Me and my wife have never seen anything like it. Two victorian baths in the room, a massive walk in shower two massive televisions, two double beds attached together, and a music sound system to die for. I can't thank the deputy manager for making amends and making our last night a memorable one, and he rounded it off by giving us a bottle of champagne. A big thankyou!.

We stayed at the hotel du vin, the staff upgraded our room to a suite for our stay as it was our honeymoon, very close to the city centre attractions and you can walk everywhere.
