Overall Hotel Rating:
out of 5We arrived at the Akcent Hotel at 23.00. The hotel was 10 metres from the Andel underground exit,a perfect position for getting to and from the sights. We went straight to bed as we had booked on the internet a walking tour with info@prague-guide.co.uk,beginning in the Old Town Square at 10.00 next morning. We bought tickets which were very cheap and enabled us to use tram, metro or bus for 24 hours.I believe you can get tickets for longer. These we swiped in a machine at the start of the day, otherwise you can get a hefty fine, and we were off. The walking tour was led by a very knowledgable student. She gave us a complete overview of the city. This included lunch and a boat trip, also a CD on Prague. The trip cost 49GBP. From here we went to a classical concert, not that we are into heavy classics, but it was a lovely relaxing way to end the day. This was followed by a lovely meal. The second day we visited Pettrine Hill, for fine views over the city,we went up by funicular railway and walked down.A third day was spent doing some more photography with a black and white film, the results of towers and spires should be interesting. We loitered on Charles Bridge again listening to the jazz band and the barrel organ. The Square in the Mala Strna not only provided us with a delicious lunch but also bright red blankets to wrap around us as there was a stiff breeze. We found the locals very friendly and helpful.Four things I would recommend, flat comfortable shoes, a good street map, plenty of small change and a good guide book,we used Top 10 Prague(Eye Witness Travel),it was more than adequate. We found the prices of food, souvenirs etc very reasonable, and were surprised at the size of our room at The Akcent. A fabulous three days,we hope to return in the winter.
