Billy Elliot the Musical has proven to be one of London’s most enduring and endearing musicals having made its West End debut in 2005. The incredibly moving story of a young lad from the North-East’s dreams of becoming a ballet dancer, Billy Elliot the Musical has touched audiences around the world with stunning performances and an emotional score co-written by Elton John. With the same spirit of the popular film on which it is based, with acclaimed director Stephen Daldry and writer Lee Hall behind both, Billy Elliot has established itself as a modern classic not to be missed.
11 year old Billy stays late one night after boxing practice and ends up in a ballet class by accident – he soon finds himself taking private lessons with the kind ballet teacher, Ms Wilkinson. Billy has to hide is new-found love of dance from his stern and male-dominated working class family, already torn apart by the miner’s strike. When he gets the chance to audition for the Royal Ballet School however, Billy must decide to either risk disappointing his family, or give up on his dreams.
As inspirational as it is entertaining, Billy Elliot the musical is both critically-lauded and astoundingly popular. During its long run in the West End, the show has picked up 5 Olivier awards – most recently the Audience Award, voted for by theatre-goers, in 2013 – and the Broadway run of the show won an incredible 10 Tony awards. Be sure to catch the musical on one of our theatre breaks, and see for yourself what’s had millions of fans the world over raving about Billy Elliot.

Theatre Reviews for Billy Elliot
Average Rating (from 475)
"What a show! The whole performance was excellently done. Quite a bit of swearing but relevant in the theme of the storyline and a backdrop of the miners strike in the north east of England."
