A Capital Experience
Stay Date: April 2016 , Grace1947 , Leesburg, Virginia
What makes a memorable experience at a hotel? Certainly the accommodations, but just as important is the staff. The Capital knows how to treat its guests. From the … Read More moment we arrived every staff member greeted us by name. They were cheerful, helpful, professional, entertaining, and wanted to make sure that all our needs weremet. Our room was one of the standard rooms, although we were offered an upgrade for an additional 50 pounds a night which would include the breakfast buffet. We weretaken to both rooms but decided the standard room met all our needs. It was a decent size, nicely decorated, the bathroom adequate, and we liked the location in thehotel. It was on the street side, but seemed quiet and comfortable. One thing we found unusual was there was no outlet for the hair dryer in the bathroom so we hadto use it in the bedroom stretching to reach a mirror to dry our hair. Also a vanity mirror in the bathroom would have been helpful for aging eyes. The location ofthe hotel is a plus for guests as it is just around the corner from Harrod's and a short walk to the underground station. It's also a short walk to Hyde Park, andfor those who like to walk and explore, easy distance from Kensington, the Victoria and Albert Museum and other sights. The hotel is considered to be a small luxuryhotel, and it is lovely although I'm not quite sure I would categorize it as such. However, we were staying in one of the standard rooms, so perhaps the suites wouldhave left me with a different impression. What was luxurious about the hotel was the service and staff. I would certainly recommend this hotel and would stay thereagain, but I might consider upgrading to another level of room. Collapse
