Stylish party hotel in the heart of Shoreditch
Stay Date: April 2015 , Simmone , Leeds, West Yorkshire
Stayed here with my girlfriends on a hen do for two nights and this was a perfect choice in terms of location - you are in the heart of Shoreditch and amazing … Read More eateries, pubs, bars and markets such as Spitalfields and Columbia road flower market are literally within ten minutes walking distance. The hotel has industrial decorand is large and airy with lots of creative East London types making the most of the free wifi in the lobby. We booked deluxe quad rooms which were ideal forgroup bookings and not badly priced when the cost is spread by four of you. Tip - book through Mr and Mrs Smith and they will price match and also chuck in a bottle ofwine per room. The rooms varied in size - some were quite a lot bigger and had couches but all had record players and vinyl (no obvious instructions to use though?)which was a great touch. The mini bar was well stocked and the bathroom was also stocked with essentials which you could buy but they were definitely overpriced. There was a considerable charge for mineral water too which was disappointing and there was UHT milk rather than fresh milk in the fridge - little improvements like thiswould be a great addition to the hotel and would make it five stars! Sleep quality was not amazing either - rooms were really warm despite our best attempts to makethem cooler and you could hear a lot of noise below from the street. I think you can request quieter rooms at the back though. The room rate didn't includebreakfast but there are tons of places in the vicinity that you can check out if you don't want to eat in the hotel. The hotel bar is buzzy and was full of creative mediatypes and city boys on the Friday night. The club underneath is also worth a visit although not free for hotel guests as it is ran by different promoters(persistence might get you free entry though!) Overall staff were really friendly and couldn't do enough for you. There was an error on the hotel bill which came through andwas charged after checking out but was dealt with and refunded promptly when we queried. Would definitely recommend this hotel for groups as a party hotel butknowing East London well, for a visit with my hubby we would probably choose somewhere else like the Boundary or shoreditch house for better sleep quality.
