3 Day Break In Edinburgh
A customerwho stayed at this hotel wrote this review.
Stay Date: 28/03/12
Overall Hotel Rating:
out of 5Excellent location right in the heart of the old town. Unfortunatley the rooms at the side of the road are very noisy. The road outside the hotel is cobbled and is a through road so the traffic starts early until late with the noise of the traffic amplified due to the cobbles. So not much sleep. There are restaurants all the way up the royal mile as well as whisky bars and more kilt and cashmire shops than anywhere else in the world. Publice tansport is cheap and frequent. An all day bus rover only costs £3.50 with a single journey costing £1.40. We used this to go to the royal yahctin leith where you can look round the yacht and then go shopping in the new shopping mall.

out of 5Standard experience at the hotel. Nothing spectacular. A little noisy due to road outside. No toiletries!.

Editor's Comments: It is Travelodge policy not to provide miniature bottles of toiletries, they do however sell a range of basic toiletries from vending machines in every hotel.

Short Break In Edinburgh
A customerwho stayed at this hotel wrote this review.
Stay Date: 09/09/11
Overall Hotel Rating:
out of 5I cannot recommend edinburgh enough. The castle is a must, but be prepared to wait 30minutes to get in. The old town is a delight to explore and improves when you get away from the royal mile. The trvelodge was adequate but a bit run down. The staff where ok but not really interested. The position of the hotel was excellent, being a hundred meters from the high street.

Short Break In Edinburgh City
A customerfrom United Kingdomwho stayed at this hotel wrote this review.
Stay Date: 08/09/11
Overall Hotel Rating:
out of 5Can thoroughly recommend the travelodge central - lives up to it's name and the best travelodge i've stayed in so far. Disappointed by stac polly restaurant across the road - expensive and tiny portions. The waitress was delightful though, and the food beautifully cooked, although i was not too keen on my rare to the point of blue duck starter being cold. And they charged for the bread when we asked for some - unbelievable! spent nearly 2 hours on the royal yacht britannia - excellent, and so easy to get to by bus on the royal mile, just around the corner from the hotel. Make sure you buy some hot scotch pies from gregg's at ocean terminal when you arrive - to die for! so pleasantly surprised by the camera obscura next to the castle - great hands-on experience - and not just for kids! a lovely 4-day break - just wish the hotel bar didn't stay open so late so we could have got up earlier in the morning - teehee! :-).

Edinburgh Stay
A customerwho stayed at this hotel wrote this review.
Stay Date: 05/08/11
Overall Hotel Rating:
out of 5We stayed at the travelodge, which had a perfect location on st marys street, just off the royal mile, but the room was somewhat noisy with city traffic, however the room was very spacious and the breakfast was good value. All the attractions, except the britannia were within walking distance and considering august is very busy with the fringe and tattoo, queues were minimal. Car parking at the travelodge was £10 for 24 hours which was cheaper than most city centre car parks. The britannia is well worth visiting however the directions are not as visible as you would think. Overall edinburgh is a great place to visit and we will be going back soon.

We Love Edinburgh

out of 5Arrived in Edinburgh about 12 noon after a very nice train journey. Check-in was at 3 but we could check in at 2 if we payed £10 which we did not. All we wanted to do was leave the case but this was not allowed as " if we did it for you we would have to do it for everyone". Thankfully the friendly pub on the corner let us leave the case behind the bar,we have been in hotels that charged for left luggage but never in one that refused it, not very for a (very hilly) city centre hotel.

Lovely Time In Edinburgh
A customerwho stayed at this hotel wrote this review.
Stay Date: 10/06/11
Overall Hotel Rating:
out of 5My fiance and I went to Edinburgh for a second time in june after getting engaged there in november. We would recommend getting a fairly early train so that you could fully enjoy the time we had. We booked our tickets for the attractions online so as to save some money (approx. Half the cost). The dungeons were absolutely fantastic, the actors were engaging and all of the staff were excellent. Highly recommend the city sightseeing bus tour, ticket lasts 24 hours and you can hop on and off as you please. The castle was fabulous, very interesting and there are some stunning views. The museum of childhood is a free museum, and its great to do some reminiscing. The real mary kings close is a very good attraction, really insightful and educational. Would recommend good sturdy shoes for any visit to edinburgh. Stayed in the edinburgh central travelodge, and it is really central, just off the royal mile. We thoroughly loved our stay, just as we enjoyed our last visit in november.

out of 5On arriving at our hotel we found the staff to be very friendly and helpful. Our room was basic but clean and comfortable in an ideal spot just off the royal mile and a short walk from the station. We found plenty to see and do during our stay within walking distance and could have happily stayed longer than two days. Overall a very enjoyable break..

out of 5My first holiday for 3yrs. My daughters first visit to Edinburgh and she loved it. We travelled up by train a completely painless experience, we had chosen the Travelodge nearest to Waverley station it was situated about 50yds from the Royal Mile ideal. It was very basic but clean and tidy staff very helpful and pleasant perfectly adequate for a short stay. In the space of 2 & half days we packed in Edinburgh Castle, St Marys Close underground tour (a must see) Camera Obscura, Scotish parliment, Greyfriars Bobby, 2 museums (many are free). We bought grand tickets that enabled us to 24hrs travel on any of the 4 city tour bus operators you can get on and off as and when you want.I could go on and on about this wonderful city, the veiws the architecture awesome. This all came at a superb price deal from Superbreak we will definateley be using them again.
