With ten centuries of French and Flemish architecture and magnificent museums and restaurants, Lille was made a European cultural capital in 2004 and is the birth place of General De Gaulle.

out of 5Hotel was really good. More choice than we expected for breakfast. Only negative thing was the car parking - 18 euros/day but unfortunately there was no free parking in the town anyway.

out of 5This is a high end hotel with prices of all extras to match, so be warned. Restaurant is excellent, but as said, pricey, so expect to splurge. Lille old town is a pleasant flanders city with v. good eateries, all in all a worthwile trip .

out of 5Lille is so easy to get to. An hour and a half on the eurostar from St.Pancras and you are there, ready for a cafe au lait and a genuine croissant! Lovely cobbled streets which you can wander about happily and safely. A good mixture of high street stores and individual artisan shops. We encountered good service wherever we went and although it was appreciated when we tried to speak french, english was widely spoken. Everything was very accesible and we did not bother with the map after an hour.

out of 5Excellent hotel, and good to explore the interesting city of Lille. Finding hotel easy using satnav, except when police closed off roads in Lille as part of Bastille day celebrations.
