out of 5La Bretagne Hotel, St Omer was an excellent hotel and particularly welcoming to oour small dog. On presenting the dog we were changed to a room which had immediate access to outside. Our three days were spent visiting the surrounding villages and enjoying the spectacular scenery. Also St Omer had some very interesting old buildings. A lovely restful break.

out of 5The main purpose of the trip was to stock up with Christmas booze. PIDOU, a drinks warehouse catering for truck drivers offers no frills, very competitive beer asnd wine. That said, we like St Omer and the hotel Grande Bretagne as it makes a good base in a rural town with good little restaurants and plenty to explore. My wife was even able to buy some designer clothes. Channel tunnel made to crossing easy. Will return in the Spring.

out of 5Overall a good location, not far to walk into town and close to the old abbey. It was very quiet over new year, and there were few places open nearby so it may be better to visit before christmas or during the summer months. An excellent hotel, with excellent staff and a good continental breakfast with plenty of choice.Rooms were clean and well kept. Would definatly visit again but at a different time of year. The only criticism would be - upon booking we were advised that the restaurant in the hotel would be closed on Sundays, which was fine, we, however, discovered on arrival that the restaurant in the hotel was closing on 1 January for 1 month and over this period there were few restaurants open in the town.

Editor's comments: We do request that all the hotels we work with inform us of any changes/refurbishment programmes they may be undertaking. Unfortunately on this occasion we were not made aware of this.
