Overall Hotel Rating:

2 out of 5

The Huntly Arms hotel was very friendly and the staff were very helpful. However, the hotel had a 3* rating and it was nowhere near that in our opinion. The rooms are in need of a serious upgrade if ours was anything to go by and we were very disappointed in the basic state of the bathroom. All was clean but in disrepair. Lovely people though so can recommend the hospitality.

Aboyne And Around

Stay Date: 05/06/11

Overall Hotel Rating:

3 out of 5

The Huntly Arms is tired and in need of some diy and tlc. For the 3 days we stayed I was tempted to ask for a ladder to fix the curtains in the dining room as one was falling off the rail and no one had tried to sort it, there had been a leak and the ceiling was unsightly. However fabulous dinner nice wine great service made up for a lot. The whole of deeside was pretty enough but theres not much more to say than that!.

Stayed in a lovely hotel in Aboyne reputed to be the oldest inn in Scvotland dating back to 1400s, the staff and food were exvellent, the standard is rated 3 star but the room was more 4 star and the food positivley 4 star, they also stock some very good wines. We visited Glenfiddich and were surprised to find the guided tour free and very informative, but you will need a spare couple of hours, the restaraunt there is also very good with a well stocked bar. We also drove through the highlands to Loch Ness and on up towards Inverness, being Autumn it was very picturesqe and we came away with some fantastic ictures, we also had great fun trying to catch the famous grouse on camera, they were numerous and almost around every bend stood by the roadside, but very camera shy, we did succeed before we left. The locals were also very friendly, we rounded off the trip by stopping in Stirling for a spot of shopping on the way back down and I ws lucky enough to take a very clear shot of Wallaces monument from the castle walls, (another trip though and a must see I highly recommend). In all an excellent buy as we recieved a great deal on the hotel.
