Brilliant short break in Florence

out of 5My partner treated me to a trip to Florence for my birthday as it is somewhere I have always wanted to see. We had cheapy flights with Ryanair and stayed at the Fenice Palace hotel in Florence, this couldn't have been more central, just around the corner from the Duomo cathedral, the rooms are soundproofed so you hardly hear the church bells, the sheets were beautifully white and clean,changed everyday as were the towels, the furniture and everything else in the room was nice but, I felt the hotel needed a bit of decoration to bring it in line with british 4 star hotels, this was an italian 4 star. The breakfast was continential and plenty of it if you went for breakfast early, as items ran out they weren't replaced, the breakfast room also needed some redecorating.We found a great restaurant called the Yellow bar, where the food and attention were brilliant.We also had a day trip to Rome on eurostar, which was so easy and we enjoyed very much.Overall we enjoyed our trip very much - one to be repeated.

out of 5We travelled to Florence by train from Pisa airport. What an excellent way to enter the city as the scenery is amazing. Florence is an excellent walking city packed with amazing features and art that every corner literally is a delight. My advice for eating would be to go away from the main Square's and find a Trattatoria, especially one with a hand written menu as this really shows how good authentic italian food is.
