out of 5Having hired a car at a discount through Aer Lingus and Hertz we decided to make use of the car to see some of the towns and villages around Cork as well as experience Cork City and its shops. The County of Cork is green, has a delightful rolling countryside and a genuine friendliness. Going around the small towns is like stepping back in time to when English towns had High Streets and delightful individual shops. That said the awful shopping malls are starting to creep into the area of Cork itself and, whilst I am sure giving value, character and the shopping experience suffer.The other significant feature is the amount of water in the form of inlets, rivers and coastline. The weather was generally good (indeed better than England that had snow whilst we were enjoying cool spring sunshine.)Having walked from Hythe to Dymchurch the difference is dramatic. Dymchurch reflects the less attractive seaside town with unhealthy fast foods, tacky gifts and care worn amusement park.
