out of 5Although I initially lacked enthusiasm for a weekend away, I was persuaded by my husband & delighted by my experiences. After unpacking we picked up a leaflet advertising the caves under the local shopping centre. We were sold a saver ticket allowing us too also visit the courts of justice. The tour was fantastic with enthusiastic characters role playing cave experiences. Saturday morning, after breakfast we visited the castle, not a greay deal of castle to see but thousands of interesting exhibits & nice grounds plus a lovely coffee shop, the ticket also included entrance to the brewery yard museum, very interesting trip back in time. As we had read all about the oldest pub 'ye olde road to jeruselem' & it was located just outside the museum we just had to pay a visit and sampled a couple of the excellent real ales. That evening frequented the theatre - we saw 'Anyone for Murder' & great farce which had us laughing our socks off. Before leaving on Sunday we just had to use our court of justice tickets and again had an amazing experience with enthusiastic tour guides in character even performing a mock court case utilising visitors as participants - great fun. All in all an excellent break, hotel ideally located with all attractions within 5 mins walking distance and reasonably priced. Not to mention the fantastic drink prices in the hotel bar only £1.50 for a pint or a glass of wine. Very surprised at just how far a very tight budget could go & how much could be seen and done on so little.
