out of 5We were two couples staying for a late summer break at the barcelo buxton palace. The rooms were a bit small and didn't have a great view - but all of the front facing rooms were taken. We didn't mind too much as the stay was such good value for money. The hotel reception, bar and restaurant were lovely. Dinner [included in our package] was fine [although my starter of pea shoot pear and dovedale blue cheese salad was a measley portion!] the staff in the hotel were completely charming and the breakfast was great!.

out of 5The buxton palace is a fine old hotel with a well-trained staff. It is showing its age in places but this does not detract from it being a good venue in fine surroundings for a short break.

out of 5Hotel and building position is impressive. Convenient for town walking. Our room was good, but the hotel was let down by:- a) parking charge (£4.50 per night) b) food e.g. Cold meats/cheese at breakfast displayed under hot lights on servery. Even if only for display it was an off putting sight. No butter provided near toaster, only 'spread'. Coq au vin. Obvious all ingredients had been cooked separately,then covered by a thick brown sauce. Not even mixed together properly before serving. I did appreciate the provision of wheat free bread on request. There were other things which surprised us, and made us doubt the justification of the four star rating.
