A flying visit to take in the Terracotta Warriors exhibition at the British Museum before it closed. Wonderful. Also went to the Ideal Home Show as it was on at the same time, my wife loved See More  Read more information it. Went to a show. Ate out at Smiths of Smithfield the restaurant of John Torode the TV Chef. Perhaps he is spending too much time on telly as we were underwhelmed by the food in his top floor restaurant.Very average particularly when the price is taken into consideration.   Collapse  Hide

Stay Date: 28/03/08, a customer from Wigan who stayed at 2* Clifton Hotel in Scarborough wrote this review.

Amongst the many attractions that York has to offer, I can thoroughly recommend a visit to the rail museum especially for rail lovers. information, demonstrations and you can buy a snack. Also the See More  Read more information York wheel is not to be missed, which is adjacent the museum. The weather in Scarborough at Easter was not too great, but I had fun taking photos of the young watching the waves of the North seacascade onto the promenade, and getting wet. York Minster is another great attraction, and finally a sail on the river Ooze. appropriately named, it does flood in heavy rain.   Collapse  Hide

Weekend Break

Stay Date: 28/03/08, a customer from Luton who stayed at 3* Diss by Verve (Formerly Scole Inn) in Scole wrote this review.

First impressions of hotel were good as it is a very impressive building. We went straight to bar where we were plesed to see large fire and good choice of beersetc. Staff member was very helpful See More  Read more information running to kitchen to make sure we got a snack before kitchen closed at end of lunch. We were shown our room in the 1829 (newer) stable block which was satisfactory. Although there was a weddingparty present that weekend we were still pleased with the meals in both cost and service. On the downside the bed was very hard and we had the impression the staff were undermanned for the number ofguests but they always remained pleaant and helpful. No hezitation in going to same place again sometime.   Collapse  Hide
