Easter in Winchester

Stay Date: 10/04/09, a customer from Didcot who stayed at 4* Mercure Winchester Wessex Hotel in Winchester wrote this review.

We had an excellent room with a full view of the north side of the Cathedral which was floodlit in the evening - a truly outstanding location. Sadly, the rest of our experience did not match up to See More  Read more information the view. We have stayed at The Wessex at least six times in recent years but there are, sadly, so many changes (probably for cost cutting purposes) since the hotel became part of the Mercure chain egless than satisfactory buffet breakfast, no indication that other dishes could be cooked to order, horrible sliced bread, porridge like cement, no longer any tablecloths in the dining room, veryimpersonal service, charge for car parking, breathtakingly high bar prices. So disappointing. Despite its perfect location we shall not stay there again. However, Winchester is the most delightful city, with good shopping, a range of restaurants to suit every appetite and pocket and is full of historic interest whilst being a city very much of the Twenty-first Century. There is a huge choice of eatingplaces, good walks, an excellent farmers' market, wide range of interesting museums and wonderful music in the Cathedral. All one needs to make it perfect is a really good hotel!   Collapse  Hide

Out and About in Manchester

Stay Date: 15/04/09, a customer from Fife who stayed at 4* Crowne Plaza Manchester City Centre in Manchester wrote this review.

Hotel room consisted of two large beds and every mod con . Big minus was living space . No room for a family to be in longer than for sleeping in. The hotel did tell us that the rooms were all this See More  Read more information size with the exception of club rooms which were another forty-five pounds more per night. The breakfast was poor the first day as it was kept warm under very new halogen lights - which madeeverything very dry. The Printworks located 3 minutes from the hotel offered a variety of restaurants and a few bars serving food. The one we used was Old Orleans- complete with their sticky ribs etc. Verytasty. Saw Dancing on Ice Show - Torvill and Dean have a winner with this show. First class.   Collapse  Hide

Novotel London Paddington

Stay Date: 10/04/09, a customer from Glasgow who stayed at 4* Novotel London Paddington in Paddington wrote this review.

This hotel is first class. Whilst the location may put people off (it was hard to find initially) at the back entrance to Paddington station, it was only a 7 minute walk to the tube station. Fabulous Easter Weekend in London

Stay Date: 10/04/09, a customer who stayed at 4* The Cavendish London in Mayfair wrote this review.

The Cavendish Hotel in Jermyn Street next to Fortnum and Masons - was spotlessly clean, quiet and modern. The location was great and we walked to most of the attractions. Piccadily, Soho, China See More  Read more information Town, Buckingham Palace, Theatreland and London Eye are all within easy reach.we also went on bus tour which at £25 each was good but we had already walked to most of the places so was a bit of a waste ofmoney for us. Had great meal at Rules restaurant as special treat and went to see the Jersey Boys which was the highlight of the weekend. Called at theatre and bought tickets. Worth every penny anddidn't want show to end. Queue for ladies loo at half time was ridiculous and so was the price of small tubs of ice cream at £3 each!! We didnt bother much with the pubs but as we walked about westopped at one or two !! Beer prices were not as bad as we expected but shorts were expensive. all in all we had fab weekend.   Collapse  Hide
