Pampered Break
A customer who stayed at this hotel wrote this review.
Stay Date: 12/03/12
Overall Hotel Rating:
out of 5My friend and i enjoyed our stay at the Cumberland hotel. Food, hotel and room was excellent. We were on the 4th floor, side view of the sea and beach. The breakfast kept us full until our evening meal. We walked to Boscombe and back along the sea front (cliff). Then sat outside near the pool with a drink and read our papers. It was so nice having our meals cooked for us. The staff were all very helpful and so friendly. We will definitely be returning to the Cumberland in the near future. I may even go on a "single" break in june. There is plenty to see, catch a bus into Poole or just sit in the gardens and watch the world go by.

Three Day Break in Bournemouth
A customer from Harrow who stayed at this hotel wrote this review.
Stay Date: 28/05/07
Overall Hotel Rating:
out of 5We were booked into The Cliffeside Hotel, Bournemouth. On the morning we were due to arrive, I telephoned the hotel to check the reservation was ok and was informed that there had been a leak in the room that we had been allocated, due to storms the previous evening. In fact various rooms had been damaged. I was slightly annoyed that we had not been informed of this prior to our departure; if I had not telephoned we would not have known until our arrival. However, steps had already been taken to upgrade us to their sister hotel, The Cumberland. I was informed that this hotel had recently undergone a £2 million pound refurbishment and a seaview room had been requested as per our original booking. We arrived at The Cumberland a little wary as to what to expect, but were delighted to find a wonderful Art Deco style interior, a super seaview room with a 4-poster bed. The hotel was clean and very tastefully decorated. There were quite a few groups of people booked, doing things such as a music appreciation week, a Bridge week etc. We asked if we could upgrade to half board and would try the evening meal. It was excellent. Good wholesome food and plenty of it!The weather was typically English; we were prepared with an assortment of clothes that would see us through the next few days. As often happens in Bournemouth, despite a cloudy start, the afternoons and evenings were bright and sunny giving wonderful deep colours for me to enjoy my hobby of photography. Whenever we visit Bournemouth, it is our tradition to take a walk along Hengistbury Head, Swanage, a clifftop walk from Durlston Castle to Dancing Ledge (good walking shoes recommended), Christchurch and Corfe Castle. We were impressed with the way the Cliffeside Hotel had dealt with the unforeseen problem that arose; unfortunately there was an error in our checking out bill at The Cumberland, where we were charged twice for our meals, but this was quickly resolved. Always worth going through the bill carefully.

Nice Weekend Break
A customer from UK who stayed at this hotel wrote this review.
Stay Date: 03/07/11
Overall Hotel Rating:
out of 5The break was really enjoyable, weather perfect and we spend most of the time on the beach (really close to the hotel). The staff was very polite and helpful, and the hotel - decent. However, our room was facing the backyard (with a view of four walls and a restaurant roof) and it was extremely hot. Due to the wedding taking place in the hotel on saturday, it was also quite noisy. So if you long for a quiet, calm weekend, you're better of choosing a different hotel or making sure that your room will be facing the ocean.
Day Out In Bournemouth
A customer who stayed at this hotel wrote this review.
Stay Date: 11/11/10
Overall Hotel Rating:
out of 5I was lucky enough to experience Bournemouth once again on a glorious day in November. People were lovely and just a lovely, clean and fresh place to relax and enjoy. Bournemouth beach is amazing and just picturesque. There are a few places to visit but if you want to be alone also a lovely place to just sit, relax and revitalise yourself. Bournemouth is a place for young and for the not so young and truly worth a visit with amazing shops, museums, restaurants and people.
Short Break In Bournemouth
A customer who stayed at this hotel wrote this review.
Stay Date: 10/08/10
Overall Hotel Rating:
out of 5Hotel overall was very good - main public areas have been designed and decorated to a very high standard. The twin bedroom that we were allocated was very clean but in need of a little tlc which I understand is 'in the pipeline' in the refit of the hotel. Food at the Cumberland restaurants was lovely and not badly priced. The downside was the parking - the spaces are on a first come first served basis and the car park at the Cumberland and sister hotels were a little awkward to negotiate in places.

Wedding Anniversary in Bournemouth
A customer from WOKING who stayed at this hotel wrote this review.
Stay Date: 10/10/08
Overall Hotel Rating:
out of 5Fortunately our actual anniversary was on the day of our arrival e.g.Friday October 10th and we were able to enjoy a relaxed and relatively quiet dinner in the restaurant. However the hotel hosted a wedding on the Saturday and the restaurant and our second-storey bedroom were anything but quiet due to the over-amplified "music" from the disco. On Sunday there was some sort of trade fair which seemed to go on most of the day and again featured considerably amplified voices and music. The hotel itself has been recently refurbished and the Art Deco appearance is delightful and the staff were efficiently attentive.

out of 5We walked to Bournemouth town centre each day and visited the Alpine Bar for mulled wine and winter pims, watched the kiddies sledging down the ice slope and then went shopping. The Oceanarium was fabulous for all age groups and we spent all afternoon watching the sharks, turtles and other fish being fed.Christchurch is a very nice place to visit not far from Bournemouth with lovely restaurants and shops. We also visited the famous Abbey Church.
