The Tavistock - Much Better Than Expected

Stay Date: 19/02/10, a customer from York who stayed at 3* Tavistock Hotel in Russell Square wrote this review.

This hotel had poor reviews on trip advisor but we found it to be perfectly adequate in all respects for a short break in London. It is less than 15 minutes walk from Kings Cross and Euston stations See More  Read more information and near the British museum, Shaftesbury Avenue and Chinatown. The staff were efficient and helpful and the breakfast was good. The bedroom was on the small side, but we didn't spend much time in it.Both the bedroom and bathroom were clean. We would use this hotel again for a short break.   Collapse  Hide

Three Days in London

Stay Date: 26/06/09, a customer who stayed at 3* Tavistock Hotel in Russell Square wrote this review.

It is not easy to find a good hotel in London that is not expensive, and that is why I was grateful I stayed at the Tavistock Hotel. It is conveniently located in the Bloomsbury area of London, See More  Read more information which is interesting to me because of its literary associations. In fact, from the hotel it is possible to take a walk of places mentioned in some of Dickens's novels, and the Dickens House is also quiteclose by. Other attractions include the British Museum and British Library. London is a great base to see other parts of England. While in London, I took an excursion to see Hampton Court Palace andGardens and another excusion to Chepstow in South Wales, where I walked the Wye River trail to Tintern Abbey. My three days in London also enabled me to see the National Gallery, Tate Britain, theBritish Museum, and St. Paul's Cathedral (don't missing going up the dome for a panoramic view of London). I also enjoyed a good performance of "A Little Night Music" at the Garrick Theatre.   Collapse  Hide

40th Bithday Break In London

Stay Date: 03/03/10, a customer from Lanarkshire who stayed at 3* President Hotel in Russell Square wrote this review.

I booked a deal with Superbreak inc rail travel/hotel.The President hotel has taken a bit of a battering in the review stakes but I was pleasantly surprised. The location was excellent about a 10 See More  Read more information min walk from theatreland etc. The rooms were very clean and fresh. The halls were a little dated but overall appearance was fine. The breakfast was excellent full english all you can eat. When wearrived we asked for the heating in the room to be turned down and for 2 more pillows. Both requests were sorted quickly and with no hassle. Staff very friendly indeed .For the price of the break this wasexcellent value and would stay here again. To all those complainers what do you expect from a 3* hotel in central London. A quick hint if you are planning a pre theatre dinner try Sway on Great QueenStreet just round from Covent Gardens - the food was really well priced and all drinks are half price between 5-8pm 7 days a week!!!.   Collapse  Hide
