Fabulous break even though the weather was poor. We have stayed at the cedar court hotel in December 2011 and had a exellant stay therfore decided to go again. Once more we were very pleased with this hotel and would visit it again.

Birthday Weekend In Harrogate

A customerfrom UKwho stayed at this hotel wrote this review.

Stay Date: 01/04/12

Overall Hotel Rating:

2 out of 5

Booked the cedar court for a weekend for a 60th birthday treat for my wife. The hotel looked ideal on their web site and looked full of character. Dissapointed that the room allocated as it was part of a newer extension. Wedding party in full swing when we arrived the wedding party drinking continued throughout the rest of the day and through 'till the early hours. The same scenario occured the following day and night. The dividing walls between rooms were paper thin and conversations could be clearly heard, the bath being filled and toilet flushing in the adjoining room could also be clearly be heard. Also dissapointed with some inconsiderate guests (of the wedding party) who would insist on having drunken conversations in the corridor in the very early hours. The breakfast area didn't seem to be able to cope with the number of guests and we were asked to wait until a table became free. Prices charged for drinks within the hotel were excessive I thought. All in all, very disappointed and will not be returning.

The hotel was well located the staff very helpful. The room was a good size very clean if a little dated. Enjoyed our visit to bettys, though a little over priced, and our visit to knasborough.

Harrogate Break

A customerwho stayed at this hotel wrote this review.

Stay Date: 13/03/12

Overall Hotel Rating:

3 out of 5

We travel to Harrogate twice a year for the bridal convention. We have stayed at a few of the local hotels. Best western cedar court was not a good stay. The staff were mostly foreign and had a very blunt manner. Dinner was the worst meal we have ever had. It was tiny portions of overcooked (yet still cold) mediocre food. The daily menu was the same every night and as soon as we entered the restaurant at 7pm we were told there was no chicken (which was the only thing on the menu without a fussy sauce). As they had only just opened I can only assume they never had the chicken in the first place. The restaurant only had two people in it so i doubt they sold out. The gentleman at the table next to us was presented with his meal to which he informed the waitress he did not order. However he was told that he did and must have the salmon. I would have told her where to go but he was a polite older gentleman and said he would accept the salmon anyway. We were then presented with a bill for £50 (no drinks on this) even though the dinner was paid for through Superbreak deal. I paid the extra they insisted on for the venison & we left the restaurant after our sub-standard meal and went into town. This was quite a walk and certainly not the easy walk it advertised on the site. It was stuck out on the outskirts and a good 15 minute walk. We wanted to be handy for the centre so we could commute back and forth to the hotel with things we picked up at the convention but this was not possible. All in all we will not be staying at this hotel again and will advise our colleagues to book elsewhere also. Harrogate is a beautiful place with a good selection of shops and cafes. However the locals are not the friendliest bunch and the prices in the shops are very high. Eateries in the town are quite poor quality (especially m cafe in the small shopping centre) and extremely pricey. We liked the cafe downstairs in the woolen mill and pizza hut as you get a meal you can enjoy, albeit not the most amazing cuisine. We do enjoy our time in Harrogate and its a nice place for a short break.

Happy In Harrogate

We had a lovely large room at the front of the hotel - the food was excellent - much improved from last visit. Would recommend cedar court most highly. Although quite a long walk from harrogate centre, a taxi is only about £5. Drum & monkey seafood restaurant is great - booking essential!.
