Belgium Holiday Reviews

Manneken Pis, Brussels, Belgium

Belgium is renowned for its luxurious chocolate, unique beer, world-class art and fairytale castles. Enjoy a romantic canal cruise in Bruges or shop in Antwerp's exquisite diamond boutiques. Brussels offers diverse architectural styles and atmospheric nightlife in the stylish Art Nouveau grand cafes.

As well as flights, Belgium is well connected via the Eurostar network with direct trains from London to Brussels. From Brussels you can travel onwards to Bruges, Ghent and Ostend using local rail services. You can also travel to Belgium via P and O ferries with daily sailings from Hull to Zeebrugge.

  • Brussels is Belgium's largest city and also the capital but still retains a small town charm and a cosmopolitan atmosphere thanks to its mix of French and Flemish cultures. Don't miss the world-famous Mannekin Pis, the futuristic Atomium and the Royal Museums of Fine Arts.
  • Bruges also known as "the Venice of the North" is an historic and picturesque town close to the North Sea coast. Famous as a centre for trade and commerce during the Middle Ages, Bruges boasts magnificent medieval buildings such as the Church of our Lady who's tower gives incredible views across the town and beyond.
  • Antwerp is world-renowned for its trade in diamonds. Be sure to visit the Diamond Quarter which is a short walk from the city's main shopping streets. Antwerp is also famous as a centre of the arts with paintings by artists such as Rubens and van Dyck displayed in historic buildings and museums around the city.
Whether you choose to visit Brussels, Bruges or Antwerp or other Belgian towns such as Liege, Namur or Ostend; we're sure you'll love a SuperBreak to Belgium.

Bruges: A Perfect Short Break

Short Break To Bruges

Stay Date: 07/12/09, a customer who stayed at 3* Hans Memling Hotel in Bruges wrote this review.

Ferry was great with buffet (all you can eat and there was a great choice) restaurant, piano bar, entertainment and several cafes. Decent size duty free shopping. Hotel was central. Room was clean See More  Read more information and very comfortable, adjustable heating, hairdryer, minibar (this was very expensive 5 euros for 25ml bottle of spirits) glad we took our own wine. Buffet breakfast had all you could want, staff couldnot do enough for us. We arrived from the ferry at approximately 9 o'clock and although you can not check in until 2 o'clock at the earliest there were facilities to store luggage. On leaving theroom at 11 am check out time, our luggage was left secure until we needed it at 4pm to return home. Bruges is a beautiful town especially with it being near Christmas the street decorations were veryimpressive. The Christmas market was an extra but not as good as markets we had visited at home. Bruges in general appeared to us to be expensive but well worth the visit-main courses were upwards of 15euros each. A lunchtime snack of one soup and one coffee was 15 euros.   Collapse  Hide

Winter In Bruges

Stay Date: 25/10/09, a customer who stayed at 2* Ibis Bruges Centrum Non Refundable in Bruges wrote this review.

The Ibis Bruges central is very good value for money, especially with the 3 nights for 2 including breakfast Superbreak offer. We were allocated a room at the front of the hotel, and found it quite See More  Read more information noisy. However the hotel staff were only too happy to change our room to one at the back for the next two nights. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the restaurant/bar area very pleasant. Thelocation of the hotel is perfect for visiting all the sights. There is also the convenience of an underground car park next to the hotel. The brewery tour was very entertaining and the admission priceincluded a large beer at the end of the tour! The Malesherbes restaurant is small but the food fabulous and reasonably priced. The staff are very friendly and explain the menu in detail (closed Monday &Tuesday). The Petit Maxim (a new find) is a modern bistro type restaurant, and the pasta dish was magnificent. Lots to see and do in Bruges and surrounding area. A great late break.   Collapse  Hide
