A Short Break to Aviemore

Stay Date: 19/02/07, a customer who stayed at 4* Macdonald Aviemore Hotel in Aviemore wrote this review.

Our first visit to the Cairngorms in Feb. 2007. We travelled by train from North East England and foond the journey comfortable, punctual and very good value using our family railcard. On arrival See More  Read more information we were a little disappointed at the lack of snow, but thrilled to find that the Macdonalds Highland Resort was so close to the station. The staff were friendly and helpful and we were able to check inimmediately with no hassle. Even though the visit was at a quiet time of year the ameneties at the resort were open and we were particularly impressed with the Leisure centre. Local restaurants, shops and cafes were all of a high standard with friendly staff. We also found the staff at the tourist office, rail station and on the bus services very helpful. Our most recommended place to visit wasthe Highland Wildlife Park with knowledgable staff and a cosy cafe with delicious food. A very enjoyable stay!   Collapse  Hide

Aviemore Conference

Stay Date: 26/10/07, a customer from Menstrie who stayed at 3* Macdonald Morlich Hotel in Aviemore wrote this review.

Stayed in the MacDonald's Highland Resort for 3 nights - attending SNP Conference and visiting relatives in nearby Boat of Garten. The included breakfasts were phenomenal and these together with the See More  Read more information excellent buffets at conference receptions/fringe meetings, kept us well fed all day. Resort is beautiful and the drive up and down was wonderful with all the autumn colours. Room was bland butcomfortable - only complaint? - we had the room in the furthest corner of the top floor, i.e. as far as it could be from outdoors which was quite a trial for me as an insomniac and smoker. Surely in sucha big resort they could designate one floor or wing of one of the hotels as 'smokers corner'. After all 305 of us still smoke.   Collapse  Hide

Aviemore Weekend

Stay Date: 11/09/11, a customer from United Kingdom who stayed at 3* Macdonald Morlich Hotel in Aviemore wrote this review.

The hotel looks a bit like the marie celeste when you walk into it no staff to be seen (check in is at another building in the complex) and it looks like a dormitory. Saying that the room was clean See More  Read more information but could do with a bit of a revamp. We were on the top floor so perhaps they are the 'cheaper rooms' allocated to online discount websites.   Collapse  Hide
