Family break in city of London

Stay Date: 18/04/17, a customer aged 45-64 from Sunderland who stayed at this hotel wrote this review.

Hotel has been totally refurbished to a high standard. Stayed last year when only bedrooms updated but even better this year when entrance, bars and restaurant completed. Staff although different to See More  Read more information last year (change from Holiday Inn to Crowne Plaza) were still amazing. Fab Family trip to London

Stay Date: 17/03/17, a customer aged 25-44 from Avon who stayed at this hotel wrote this review.

We booked the Crowne Plaza Kings Cross through a SuperBreak mystery deal...couldn't have been happier. The staff were lovely, all of them. The room was small but then it was a family room with 2 See More  Read more information large double beds in, it was very comfortable and nicely decorated. Lounge bar was also nice, they didn't mind the kids being in there which meant we could enjoy a few drinks and relax. Breakfast buffetwas really good, nicely presented and tasty and SO much choice. We also tried out the pool which again was a bit smaller than expected and quite crowded on a Sunday morning but still enjoyable... Allthe other guests seemed nice too which makes a difference. Across the road is a pub, I forget the name but this was good too, great steak and chips and again the kids were welcomed in. We used thetube to get around, its about a 10-30 minute walk (depends on your kids) to Kings Cross station where you can get trains and the underground (warning the ticket queues here are quite long so try andsort oyster cards before if you can). Also for Harry Potter fans there is platform 93/4 and a shop too...worth a look... If you have little ones or are just knackered a from the station back to the hotelwas about £6-8, honestly it's worth the money to stop the moaning! We visited Camden Lock Market, there's an amazing street food section called Kerb, bit pricey in some stalls but then again it'snot massed produced rubbish so is worth the money. The actual market is huge, I didn't realise how big... We then mooched around for the rest of the trip, watched the St Patrick's Day parade aroundTrafalgar Sq and walked up to Piccadilly to the shops (Fortnum and Mason is up there...yum!). Checkout for our room wasn't until 12pm so leaving was nice and relaxed too. Would recommend this hotel toall ages including families....   Collapse  Hide

London

Stay Date: 30/08/16, a customer aged 25-44 who stayed at this hotel wrote this review.

We picked this hotel because of the price and location, it was a 4* mystery hotel but soon worked out it was the Holiday Inn Kings Cross/Bloomsbury and that there were refurbishments going on at the See More  Read more information hotel. This was not a problem to us as we only wanted the hotel as a base and some where to sleep. Breakfast was really good giving a choice of full English, continental, cereals and fruit. All staffwere brilliant and all the concierge were very helpful and knowledgeable. We used Uber to get around as I'm 36 weeks pregnant and couldn't manage to do much walking but one day we walked to RusselSquare which was about a 8 min walk, from there we caught the Big Bus Tour which was a fantastic way to see all of London.   Collapse  Hide

2016 Family London trip

Stay Date: 11/02/16, a customer aged 45-64 who stayed at this hotel wrote this review.

We stayed at the Holiday Inn Kings Cross/ Bloomsbury. This is not the first time we have stayed there. The hotel is within 10 minutes approx walking distance to Kings Cross/ St Pancras train station See More  Read more information and the British Museum. The West End is approx 20 minute walk from the hotel. We were fortunate enough to be given one of the newly decorated rooms, which are decorated to a high standard. Althoughthere is upgrading of the hotel ongoing, this did not effect our stay in any way. There was plenty to chose from at breakfast and the staff in the dining area were always pleasant. The orange juicewas a little watery and I would have liked the choice of a boiled egg, like previous years. We did not use the leisure facilities as we were out and about all day but they were available if we wanted touse them. Some of the concierge did not appear to be happy at there work or overly helpful, it may have been an bad day, we all have them. We used the Oyster card to get around London, this wassimple to use and top up. We used the Eurostar for the first time to Paris which was a great experience. We booked the tickets approx 3 months before our trip and got them at a good price. We went toShrek's Adventure which was good fun but a lot of waiting in line, thank god there were toilets half way through the adventure. We will return to London again next year and will probably return tothe same hotel due to the high standard of the bedrooms and it sleeps a family of four.   Collapse  Hide

Trip to London

Stay Date: 23/11/13, a customer aged 45-64 from Darwen who stayed at this hotel wrote this review.

This was a short trip to London to celebrate an anniversary and to watch a band on the Saturday evening. We booked only 3 days prior to travelling and Superbreak were very helpful advising on best See More  Read more information prices for hotels and train times etc. We have travelled with Superbreak many times and it is always very straight forward and usually cheaper than booking the train and hotel separately. Family Trip to London

Stay Date: 28/10/16, a customer aged 25-44 from Gb who stayed at this hotel wrote this review.

We travelled with our 2 young children with the intention of showing them some of the typical tourist sights in London. We stayed in the Holiday Inn Kings Cross/Bloomsbury which we were aware is See More  Read more information currently being refurbished and so expected a little disruption but overall this did not affect our stay. The hotel is very centrally located, the newly modernised room we stayed in was very clean &comfortable, breakfast was no problem as long as you arrived at the restaurant, temporarily set up in a function room in the hotel basement, before 8am. People arriving after this time experienced afairly long queue as the hotel was full. We used contactless on the tube and relied on the price capping policy as the most economical way to pay for our travel around London. We booked a family riverrover pass in advance, online via City Cruises and found this a good way to see a different view of London and without the crowds as the boats were fairly quiet. Our visit to London on thisoccasion was fairly short, however, next time we visit for a slightly longer stay we would consider buying 'The London Pass' as this looks like a good way to visit lots of the attractions and offers fastpass entry.   Collapse  Hide

48 hours in London

Stay Date: 20/10/16, a customer aged 45-64 from United Kingdom who stayed at this hotel wrote this review.

Hotel room was very good, but as the hotel was being renovated we didn't see around much of the public areas. There wasn't any info in our room about local restaurants or attractions which would See More  Read more information have been helpful. Much preferred the walk to Russell Square underground than Kings Cross, about a 15 minutes walk. Used contactless debit card to pay for all transport, much easier than any of the otheroptions and capped at under £8 a day for central London travel, so very good value. If you are travelling with children (under 11 travel free) just use the luggage/pushchair wider gate, zap your cardand go through together. Just remember you need one contactless debit card per adult. Zap your card again when you exit the station and you are all done. My son and I took about a dozen undergroundtrains our first day and I was billed £7.45. London Trip with Grand Children 5 and 7

Stay Date: 18/08/13, a customer aged 45-64 who stayed at this hotel wrote this review.

Stayed at the Mystery Hotel with my two grand daughters, room and facilities were good as was the included breakfast buffet. Hotel Staff were both helpful and welcoming. Hotel is more than walking See More  Read more information distance from the tube station but bus 63 from outside the station stop M will get you to the hotel (3 stops Gwynne Place) Good position to access most attractions in Central London. Grand Daughtersaged 5 and 7 so went for attractions suitable for that age group. Hamley's toy shop - hours of fun and lots of demonstrations to watch. Left with face paints, glittery tattoos, and nail stencils plusnew toys one of which (magic colouring pens) kept them happy on the long journey home. The M and M shop in Leicester Square was a hit and included meeting Characters. The Science Museum kept them bothamused for hours and despite their ages they both thought it was amazing! The changing of the guards at Buckingham Palace was a bit of a disappointment. After waiting for some time with two boredchildren, we were told by a policeman that it wasn't happening that day - every other day in August and there were thousands of other people waiting just like us. However the girls loved running throughthe park, seeing squirrels, collecting acorns, chasing pigeons, and playing with the water feature. The Best part was all this could be enjoyed for free! Unless you wished to purchase anything. Wouldrecommend the Visitor Oyster Card just top up before you use it. Mine was obtained on a previous trip and entitled both my Grand Children to travel free on the Tubes and Buses with me (Children under 10travel free in London) I was a little bit concerned before hand about travelling with two young children in London. I found that waiters, shop staff, general public were overwhelmingly helpful whereever we went. Even down to travelling on the tube, on a packed in like sardines train, two men gave up their seats for my Grand children whilst a lady relieved me of my bag of toys so that I only hada suitcase to worry about. Wonderful kindness everywhere we went! Can't wait for the next trip!   Collapse  Hide
