About York Dungeon
Visit The York Dungeon and discover the darkest depths of York’s horrible history on a journey that takes you back more than 2000 years. Come face to face with the sinister characters of York’s gruesome past and experience interactive shows and terrifying special effects that will transport you back to bleak, mysterious and disease ridden times.
Following a huge renovation due to flood damage, The York Dungeon reopened in April 2013 to be darker and more twisted than ever! See, hear, touch, smell, feel and fear your way through the unforgettable walk through experience which features an amazing cast of theatrical actors, 11 laugh-out-loud shows and 360° sets.
Based on real historical events, those who dare to visit The Dungeon will discover the tales of the traitorous York born plotter Guy Fawkes and the infamous highwayman Dick Turpin. On your journey you will get a check-up from the resident plague doctor, get lost in the Labyrinth of the Lost and learn about the legend of The Golden Fleece.
