out of 5Edinburgh is a wonderful city and even in february was buzzing. We enjoy the atmosphere of the city and the mixture of nationalities there, we thouroughtly enjoyed our time qat the royal terrace hotel and our visit to the theatre wher we saw beyond the barricade. We would reccomend the theatre bar next to the theatre for a meal or a drink it has great atmosphere and the log fire very welcoming.

out of 5I took my husband to Scotland for his birthday. The Royal terrace hotel was so beautiful. There were a garden at the back and after breakfast, we went out for a walk. Our bedroom was secluded and we overlooked the park, there were some rooms that were named and we were lucky to have a room called 'The famous Grouse', the hotel also supplied us with a C.D player. The staff were very friendly and helpful. There is also a swimming pool underground which was very quiet and peaceful for a swim. We were ten minutes away from the high street, there were loads of restaurants and pubs to choose from. we will definitely go back to that hotel when we go back to Edinburgh, I was so glad that I chose it.

Theatre Break, Edinburgh

Overall Hotel Rating:
out of 5Our overall stay in the royal terrace hotel was very good, although we only are breakfast in the hotel and therefore couln't coment on the restaurants. The resident's bar was good and the barman was extremely helpful and friendly. It would help to have more parking facilities because if you arrive late there are only "permit holders only" spaces.

A customer who stayed at this hotel wrote this review.
Stay Date: 25/09/11
Overall Hotel Rating:
out of 5I visited edinburgh with my daughter for Edinburgh university open day. We decided to make it a short break and planned to shop, enjoy meals out and take in some culture. The hotel was disappointing with a rather smelly room in the basement with a view of a brick wall and the bottled gas store. Some staff were very friendly but others indifferent. Wedding guests in the opposite room disturbed our sleep together with a fire (false) alarm at midnight. Buses were a good way to get around, frquent and friendly - although you need the exact money. Chop chop is a chinese restaurant in haymarket, recommended by gorden ramsey. Basic decor but excellent food - no need to dress up. High tea at eteaket (honest that is how it is spelt) was excellent even though they had run out of scones. Cultural activities were great but we were disappointed not to pass by holyrood palace due to an event - no reduction in the ticket price offered. Perfect weather made the weekend memorable.

Stay In Edinburgh At The Royal Terrace Hotel
A customer who stayed at this hotel wrote this review.
Stay Date: 31/03/11
Overall Hotel Rating:
out of 5Disapponted with the hotel which fell far below standard. The sheets didn't fit properly, the pillows were dreadful and we only had a shelf with a piece of wood in front of half of it for a wardrobe. Also, there were no drawers except for two very thin ones in the desk.

Fantastic Weekend In Edinburgh For Two

out of 5Arrived by train in Edinburgh and caught one of the many taxis available to the Royal Terrace Hotel. Hotel was on a splendid georgian terrace and the staff were very helpful and welcoming. On arrival we were upgraded to a lovely feature room on the front of the hotel with the biggest, most comfortable bed ever. The breakfast choice was brilliant. We did plenty of shopping, eating out and visited the christmas market. I cannot recommend Edinburgh, the hotel and the sights and shopping, enough. Even the snow which disrupted our journey home, could not spoil our perfect weekend.

A customer from DUNDEE who stayed at this hotel wrote this review.
Stay Date: 13/02/10
Overall Hotel Rating:
out of 5Short walk from the bus station. Quick & efficient check-in. Quiet, small but comfortable, room on the top floor overlooking the garden. Superb breakfast. Mostly shopping on the Saturday but remember to book a pre-theatre restaurant table asap (20 couples turned away). Theatre royal bar for drinks after the show - great service and not overpriced. The show Chitty Chitty Bang Bang was excellent. The star of the show was the amazing car but well supported by the cast. The theatre was jam packed and by the end of the show the temperature in the balcony was stifling (open a door or switch on some fans). Just time for a reasonably priced drink in the Theatre Royal bar next door.

40th Celebration
A customer from Sleights who stayed at this hotel wrote this review.
Stay Date: 17/10/09
Overall Hotel Rating:
out of 5Our room was the biggest I have ever stayed in and it had a chandelier too and a beautiful ceiling. The hotel did need some renovation though with tatty wall paper in public rooms and bits of carpet missing in the corner of our room and black areas in the corners of the shower. I did not sleep that well but I am a light sleeper, the first night there was a wedding on and loud music was playing till after 1am, the second night the chandelier shook making a noise from 5am. The lady in the restaurant was pleasant but the staff at reception could have been better.

out of 5Enjoyed a lovely train journey along the coast to Edinburgh. Directions to hotel were a little sketchy and sent us a long way round. Found a shorter way later. Hotel very welcoming. Room a good size but disappointed that a 4* hotel did not have a fridge in the room. Breakfast was adequate but have had more variety at other hotels. Edinburgh lovely city, lots to see and do. Plenty of choice of places to eat.

out of 5The hotel was situated in a quiet part of Edinburgh, on an attractive terrace, but still within reasonable walking distance of all the main attractions. The hotel was lovely, with attentive staff and good well-maintained facilities in the bedroom. The meal in the evening was slightly disappointing for choice but was excellent value for a 3 course meal! Definitely somewhere I would consider staying again

out of 5We had 4 days in Edinburgh & stayed at the Royal Terrace Hotel. The beds are out of this world! So comfortable. Just what you need after walking around all day.Our favourite place that we visited was Holyrood House. The rooms were spectacular. We only wish we'd had more time to look round the gardens properly. We found an italian restaurant named Ferri's on the first night. We liked it so much we went there every night. We can certainly recommend it.

out of 5This was our first trip to Scotland's Capital and we found the city captivating. This is not a "pretty" or "quaint" city, but is robust yet attractive. Everywhere was within walking distance of the hotel - and the hills helped us to walk off the hearty Scottish breakfasts!Architecture is a matter of personal taste, but in my view the dynamic, eccentric and bizarre new Parliament building looks very uncomfortable at the end of the Royal Mile and across the road from the Palace of Holyroodhouse.

out of 5Had three nights at the Royal Terrace Hotel which is excellent. Only thing that irritated us was a girl with a clip board on our last morning in the restaurant being very officious. She'd have been better employed clearing the tables! The Royal Yacht Britannia is wonderful. Couldn't get to Holyrood cos HM was there which was a disappointment but there is plenty more to see. The Castle is very expensive now and we decided not to visit because we had been before and think £20 is a bit much. The Phuket Pavilion is a very good Thai Restaurant

(The 1 o'clock gun was well enjoyed !)The city has much to offer and we used some vouchers for most of our entries, thus keeping the overall cost of the w/end down. The Castle is also included in English Heritage membership.Hotel being central we were able to walk around the sights; enjoy our souvenir shopping; plenty of choice in restaurants..good deal at the Italian Buffet! (Yes we did have haggis elsewhere!)
