The charming medieval market of Witney and the picturesque countryside of the Cotswolds are also close by.

out of 5Stayed at the Oxford Hotel Fri/Sat nights which was ideally situated off the ring road for access, parking and easy Bus into the centre. Spent the whole of Saturday in Oxford starting with the City Open Top Bus Tour which was really informative and gave clues to places to visit during the rest of the day.On way home on Sunday visited Bicester Shopping Village

out of 5We booked 2 nights B&B at the Hotel Oxford including a meal on the first night. We were worried that the hotel might be too modern but it was great and stylish. Everything was first class including the staff and all aspects of service. The break was excellent value for money - we were impressed. We used the local and handy bus service to get to Oxford and back, only 10 minutes. Overall it was a great break and I recommend it.

out of 5The Four Spires Hotel Watson a great location only a 10-15 minute walk from the city centre. It was clean and comfortable and the staff were very friendly and helpful. We had the first night's dinner included, the p?t? starter was not very nice, but they substituted one starter and refunded the other. Otherwise the food was good, with an excellent selection at breakfast.We enjoyed a lovely day wondering around Oxford, admiring the wonderful buildings and stopping off in various pubs and coffee shops.

out of 5Hotel was first class set in lovely grounds with easy access to riverside walk which is 15 minutes to the city centre. Set just behind University college boat house. Very easy to get to hotel off the ring road. Nice room , a little dated but lot of hanging space and drawers. Very clean And well presented. Tea and coffee making facilities. Very good breakfast selection and a lovely evening meal on the first night ( included in the 2day package) I would recommend the hotel to others and would happily return. Oxford centre has wonderful buildings, do o miss the Bodleian library. Had pre-booked sunset picnic trip on the river with Oxford Cruises, unfortunately it was rainy and rather cold. Picnic was a pre-plated salad, nice but not what we expected. Only four on the trip and not sure how much more enjoyable it would have been if the sun was out. Glad it was a gift as I would have been disappointed if I had paid the ?45 per person . That said, we still had a great weekend which was helped by the very friendly and efficient staff at the hotel.
