Enjoying Belfast

out of 5We stayed at the Holiday Inn and experienced the very friendly staff, comfortable surroundings and an excellent breakfast provided by the hotel. Only a short walk from the city centre, a lovely wine bar and the Europa bus station (purchased a bus day ticket for only ?2 from the tourist info centre at airport for the Airport Bus which took us into Belfast and we used it later to catch the bus to the Oydessy to watch a show, absolute bargain! A few mins walk from the hotel and we were in the historic Crown Bar with its stained glass windows and private booths and then Fibber MacGees to taste Guiness and listen to the local Irish bands, great fun. The Titanic experience was amazing and we were lucky enough to take part in a free tour of the City Hall on sat afternoon. The tour guide gave us an hour tour of the building together with a very interersting talk on the history of Belfast. A visit to the classy Victoria shopping centre with the Dome on the top floor giving a wonderful 360 degree view of the city. An open top sightseeing tour of the city finished off our trip nicely. My sister and I have a little trip each year to visit somewhere new, this was by far one of the best we have done. Such a friendly city we will definitely visit Belfast again.

out of 5I booked my stay, literally hours before I arrived at the hotel. There was ample on street parking outside which saved on the multistory. The hotel staff were very courteous, though I was somewhat bewildered that they had no electronic record of my booking - thank goodness for the fax machine! When finally booked into my room, the staff advised me that the hotel heating was not functioning due to the adverse weather in Belfast - if I required additional blankets, just ask! and if it was too cold, they would put me up in another hotel! As I was only staying one night, I stayed put and it really wasn't that cold. The room was more than adequate, though I felt that the bathroom was in some need of a makeover - towel rail not working, grubby tiles - just a little tired in places. The bed wasn't the most comfortable I've slept in and there is some traffic noise, despite being on the forth floor and requesting a quiet room. Breakfast was excellent and set me up nicely for the day ahead! all in all, for the price I paid on Superbreak, I was happy - had I paid the hotels daily rate and brought my partner along for the stay, I'd have been less happy! fine for the one night in the city centre, for a romantic break I'd look elsewhere.
