About Sister Act - Newcastle
This summer the smash hit musical Sister Act will perform at the Newcastle Theatre Royal from the 14th to the 25th August.
Since closing in the West End in 2010 Sister Act embarked on a UK tour, taking in several cities across the country. Sister Act Newcastle brings the uplifting musical to the North East for one week in August 2012.
Based on the 1992 film Sister Act Newcastle is a feel good musical, ideal for the whole family. When night club singer Deloris Van Cartier is witness to a murder she is placed in witness protection in the most unlikely setting. Adapting from the vibrant night life of Las Vegas casinos to a life of routine and rules amidst a small convent as Sister Mary Clarence, Delories encounters several struggles along the way.
In constant disagreement with the strict Mother Superior and struggling to accept her new life as a nun Delories throws herself into the church choir and soon has all the nuns singing and dancing along. Her life is still not her own though and it’s nor long before her location is discovered and her life is in danger.
Produced by Whoopie Goldberg and Stage Entertainment, the company responsible for Hairspray and High School Musical, Sister Act Newcastle features an array of toe tapping songs, comedic turns and lasting friendships.
